BIRDIES MINI GOLF & PARTIES! is a unique, one-of-a-kind family entertainment center/museum catering to families of all ages.
BIRDIES MINI GOLF & PARTIES! features an ADA accessible 14-hole, custom designed miniature golf course themed after one of Central Iowa’s beloved former attractions, RIVERVIEW PARK. Each hole spotlights a miniaturized version of a famed attraction or ride golfers may putt through. Signage & vintage photos bring awareness to golfers about this historic amusement park that shined in Des Moines from 1914 to 1979.
BIRDIES MINI GOLF & PARTIES! will also display actual items from Riverview Park including original park benches and one of the iconic pinball machines from the arcade.

Popcorn Productions, Inc. President, Steve Hinrichs, grew up in Altoona, Iowa. A graduate of Southeast Polk High School, Steve fondly remembers his yearly birthday treat of playing miniature golf at Golf Village or a visit to Riverview Park with his family.
Steve left Altoona for the “bright lights of show business”, traveling around the globe designing, performing & entertaining. Using the skills he honed at S.E.Polk as an artist & actor.
Steve has produced Amusement Park shows & attractions for the last four decades across America for Six Flags Theme Parks as well as many other Amusement Parks.
Steve is bringing these same talents & skills to this project, creating a destination attraction that is an exciting, fun-for-all-ages, year-round mini golf course. The obstacles in this mini golf course are unique, one-of-a-kind creations that will bring back fond memories of days gone by. For the younger players who never got the chance to experience Riverview Park, it is a colorful and eye-catchingly fun course to play!
Families will be creating all-new memories to be passed down from generation to generation.
Steve has assembled a team of local & national experts in their fields, each bringing their finest professional skills to make this family-venue a MUST-SEE destination location for locals & tourists alike.
Windmills & Loop-d-loops” are replaced with an 8-ft diameter Ferris Wheel, a 14-ft long golf ball roller coaster & a golf-thru, glow-in-the-dark Haunted House. Imagine putting through the funny mirrors of the famed Mirror Maze, or getting a hole in one with a golf ball-sized Skee Ball Game! Try your luck getting your golf ball past the Dodgem cars, a whirl thru the Chutes “Love Tunnel” or landing it in Jean Jone’s “Guess Your Weight & Age” swing for a FREE round of mini golf OR a Chalk Kewpie Doll reproduction.
BIRDIES MINI GOLF & PARTIES! will be open seven days a week.
Hours will be:
Sunday thru Thursday: 11 AM to 9 PM
Friday: 11 AM to 11 PM
Saturday: 10 AM to 11 PM
No alcoholic beverages will be allowed on premises, keeping the venue a safe, clean, affordable family entertainment option. We will sell snacks, water, juice boxes & pop.
We strongly feel BIRDIES MINI GOLF & PARTIES! will offer a unique family entertainment venue for the community, giving central Iowa it’s only INDOOR year-round mini golf facility.
BIRDIES MINI GOLF & PARTIES will be located in a spacious 4,955 square feet.

From Las Vegas, Nevada CREE8 STUDIOS will manufacture & install the 18+ custom designed obstacles that resemble the glory days of Riverview Park’s rides & attractions. CREE8 STUDIOS builds magic illusions for the likes of David Copperfield, Criss Angel & AGT superstar escape artist, Jonathan Goodwin. They are Television consultants and specialize in sets, illusions, SFX, props, animatronics, pyro and haunted attractions
BENCHMARK CONSTRUCTION LLC located in Truro, Iowa will handle all the basic construction features including walls, lighting & carpeting. Safety features such as sprinklers, fire alarms & emergency exits. They will pull all permits & licenses. They are bonded with the state of Iowa & insured. BENCHMARK CONSTRUCTION LLC is owned and operated by a former Altoona resident & S.E. Polk alumnus who will be the construction foreman.
The beautiful museum-quality signage & artistic photographic images will come from ETC!GRAPHICS inc. This husband & wife duo, originally from Mitchellville & Runnels, Iowa (and S.E. Polk Alumni’s), will create this artwork from their Carlisle, Iowa workshop. They will handle all signage including the outdoor lit sign on the building.
